Sailor Seeks Horse 2016 Pinot Noir
Winery : Sailor Seeks Horse
95 Points James Halliday
Their 2016 Sailor Seeks Horse Pinot Noir is a masterclass in controlled power and elegance. They strive for balance in the vineyard which makes the work in the winery minimal.
The 2016 is an excellent release. A warmer season right across Tasmania, this small batch premium Pinot Noir is one of their best releases to date.
Sailor Seeks Horse, one of Tasmania's newer pinot labels, is the creation of winemakers Paul and Gilli Lipscombe who also make the wines for Home Hill Vineyard. Paul and Gilli arrived in Tasmania after studying winemaking/viticulture in Margaret R and with experience in Oregon and New Zealand. They settled in the Huon and set about reviving a derelict vineyard at Cradoc, which had been planted in 2005 and subsequently abandoned. Their first release 2013 Sailor Seeks Horse Pinot was an instant success.
