Laurel Bank 2015 Pinot Noir
Winery : Laurel Bank
Utterly distinctive pinot. Very deep carmine/purple but still glitteringly translucent. Typically dark berry fruits on the nose with lashings of spice and hints of candied orange rind. Extra breathing reveals a whiff of aniseed. Smooth in the mouth, with a lovely flow, this is a beautifully weighted pinot.
Laurel Bank was established by Kerry Carland in 1986 at Granton, 20 minutes from the Hobart CBD and just north of the Bridgewater Bridge. With a northerly aspect and sloping site, this is a great place to grow pinot noir. Most of the pinot noir vines are now 23 years old and have developed substantial growth systems, the advantage being greater carbohydrate reserves in the often dry summers.
