Dry River 2015 Pinot Noir
Winery : Dry River
95 POINTS BOB CAMPBELL
A beautifully exquisite Pinot from Dry River. Luscious dark cherries, strawberries with the typical New Zealand herbs and spice. Perfectly judged tannin. Just coming into it drinking window, its a serious pinot for any serious collector.
An icon of Martinborough and New Zealand pinot, Dry River produces exceptional wines, particularly Pinot Noir. Less enigmatic than they used to be in the first two decades, recent vintages show how the winemaking and viticulture is, after 37 years, completely at home in its location. Dry River Pinots show their stunning virtues even when young, but they still have capacity to cellar brilliantly.
Former winemaker and owner Neil McCallum was a pioneer, having planted the vineyard in 1979. Ata Rangi, Martinborough & Te Kairanga developed their vineyards about the same time. The current team consists of winemaker Wilco Lam, viticulturist Robert Wills and long term employee Heather Gibbs in administration.
