Charteris 2015 TAHI Pinot Noir
Winery : Charteris
Cinnamon and dark cherries with complexing spice rack aromatics adding perfume. Subtle foresty hints with the smell of Cinnamon buns straight out of the oven. There’s a brambly, wild herbal lift that envelopes a deeper plum core to the nose. Medium bodied with well reconciled dark plum fruit that is embedded in layers of depth and complexity. Supple textured phenolics give a silky graphite like cloak to the palate. While the wine is quite open there is expansive dimension giving length and persistence. Soft acidity keeps the finish refined and focused. A hint of smoky roasting pan on the finish. There is a subtle dark plum base note that runs through this wine from either the vineyard or the clone, I’m not sure which but it sings with harmony.
