Giant Steps 2016 Sexton Pinot Noir
Winery : Giant Steps
95 POINTS JAMES HALLIDAY
Perfumed aromas of dark cherries and strawberries laced with violets gracefully drift from the glass underpinned by a subtle stalky meatiness and spicy cedar. The palate is filled with lively ripe red fruit flavours of cherries and strawberries intermixed with a dash of fresh herbs over a meaty background with some subtle spicy cedar also evident. Excellent power, bright acidity and an elegant, refined tannin structure all point to a long cellaring life
Giant Steps' Applejack Vineyard was planted in the Upper Yarra in 2001 by Ray Guerin, viticulturist par excellence. The vineyard, which was purchased by Phil Sexton of Giant Steps, is located on a dramatic north-east facing slope.
