Valli 2016 Bannockburn Pinot Noir
Winery : Valli
94 POINTS BOB CAMPBELL
96 POINTS SAM KIM
An incredibly frangrant and elegant wine from a cooler site in Bannockburn with a perfect balance of power and poise. Intriguing aromas of wild flowers, fresh berries, dried herbs, baking spice and vanilla on the nose. The energetic palate is long and fresh with red cherry, raspberry and savoury undertones. Silky fine tanins with a creamy underlay compliment the vibrant acidity that gives the wine length and memory.
Grant Taylor the winemaker aims to be invisible. A tall order one could say, given his big personality, bags of enthusiasm and pioneering pinot work in Otago. What he seeks is not to be noticed in a winemaking sense, letting each individual site that makes up the Valli Pinot Noir quartet, speak with clarity and uniqueness.
