Ziereisen 2013 'Blauer' Spätburgunder
Winery : ziereisen
93 POINTS JAMES HALLIDAY
The bouquet is clear, pretty and fragrant, red berry fruits to the fore, and fine tannins on the finish. Very well made wine.
This pinot noir is a 2-way blend of organically grown fruit from Malterdingen (70km north of the cellar) and limestone-rooted vines near the cellar and Swiss border. 2013 is a late ripening vintage but the fruit was picked fully ripe These pinots, as a group, are a little more savoury and “Burgundian” than most other German pinots. The tannins are powdery and fine, and there is plenty of ripe fruit flavour without any oak showing
